Red Mountain Coach Jones Resigns

Coach Jones of Red Mountain informed Athletic Director Mike Anderson that he will be stepping down after 22 seasons. Coach Jones was hired on when the school open and has coached every varsity squad since. He was the second longest tenured coach in the East Valley going into this season just behind Coach Gary Venturo of Tempe’s Corona Del Sol, coach Venturo retired earlier this month.

Mesa Jackrabbits Advance to Semi-Finals

Nutritional Ideas For the Elite Child in Sport

Do you have a child that is playing a lot of sport or intends to? My ‘baby’ boy is a 15 yr 194 cm (6ft 4in) size 14 shoe wearing representative basketball player, and I would like a dollar for every time a parent of a child, doing a lot of sport, has come up to me asking for advice of one kind or another.

Most parents want to feed their youth athletes better but just don’t know what components of good nutrient-rich foods are. Sometimes parents also are unaware of the importance of planning correctly so that these nutrients work effectively and efficiently for the athlete. Parents often ask me what the appropriate food is for their child and the game starts in 30 minutes! At that point nothing is really going to help that child in that particular event. Great Run by Mesa Soldiers

What a great season for the Mesa Soldiers their inaugural season with the CAYFL. The boys from Mesa made a great run for the CAYFL Championship but fell short in the the semi-finals when they faced off against the #1 seeded Mustangs from Chandler.
